Frequently asked questions

These answers explain what the simulator calculates, what it cannot know and what you should verify before relying on a result.
Does Risk Lab provide investment advice?
No. It is an educational risk-calculation tool. It recommends no instrument, direction or entry time and predicts no performance. You remain responsible for the trading decision and every parameter you enter.
Why is the recommended size sometimes zero?
A limit may already be reached, or one unit may risk more than the effective budget. Risk Lab always rounds down: it blocks a position rather than exceeding drawdown, daily loss, portfolio risk, maximum size or available margin.
Where can I find a CFD's point value and lot step?
In the broker's contract specifications or symbol properties. Check at least contract size, tick size, tick value, profit currency, minimum lot step, commission and leverage. The supplied CFD profiles are editable because these values are not universal.
Are my prop firm's rules updated automatically?
No. Rules differ by program and can change: static or trailing drawdown, intraday or end-of-day calculation, daily limit, maximum contracts and treatment of unrealized gains. Copy the rules that apply to your account.
How is portfolio risk estimated?
The engine combines open risk, an equity-based limit and a manually entered correlation. Correlation estimates are uncertain and can change abruptly; use a conservative assumption when robust data is unavailable.
Is the EUR/USD rate fetched in real time?
No. The rate is intentionally manual and is used only when account and contract currencies differ. Use a recent rate and add a safety margin if the conversion may move before execution.
Do the calculations represent the actual maximum loss?
No. Entered spread and slippage improve the estimate, but gaps, insufficient liquidity, order rejection or forced liquidation can cause a larger loss. Financing costs and taxes are not modeled.
Where are presets and journal entries stored?
In the current browser's local storage. No application account or backend receives this data. Clearing site data or changing browsers removes it; CSV export lets you keep a copy.
Can I use Risk Lab for an instrument that is not listed?
The custom CFD profile is suitable only when every contract property is entered accurately. Do not use the result for a product whose P&L, margin or conversion mechanics differ from the proposed model.
